Our Mission
The Susan M. Ingal Foundation offers one-time scholarships and academic enrichment to spirited and tenacious middle and high school students across the New Jersey metro area.
Rooted in Ms. Ingal’s spirit of giving as much as she could to her students, the foundation is committed to providing educational opportunities to financially underserved and academically disadvantaged students by providing scholarship awards as well as pre-college academic support. Aligned with Ms. Ingal’s own penchant for instilling curiosity in her students, the foundation honors those who are hungry to learn, even when learning may not come easy.
The Susan M. Ingal Foundation was established by the friends, family, and colleagues of Susan Ingal, who taught special education at PS261 in Brooklyn and in Harding Township, New Jersey, where she taught middle school for 19 years. Ms. Ingal loved teaching and worked tirelessly on behalf of her students. As is the case with all good teachers, she was always available when it came to her kids, instilling in them a sense of confidence as well as a lifetime love of learning.
Ms. Ingal believed that all kids—no matter what setbacks they may face—should be given every opportunity possible to succeed. In honor of her dedication, encouragement, spirit, sense of humor, and so much more, the Susan M. Ingal Foundation works to advance the principles Ms. Ingal so steadfastly embodied in life.
