We have expanded our reach through our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties, NJ (BBBS), an affiliate of the 100+-year-old premier youth development organization BBBS of America, creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth fighting for social justice. Their approach to youth development is centered on the power of the professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationship.
The BBBS model has been proven effective to have positive effects in multiple domains of youth development, including completing their education, avoiding risk-taking behaviors, and building assets for their overall positive development. They focus local work around four pillars to empower potential for Littles and support them on a path to a bright future: (1) Education & College Readiness; (2) Career Readiness & Workforce Development; (3) Health & Wellness; and (4) Prevention. Locally, their average high school graduation is 96%.
